Fixed as Thieves

Progress has slowed on “the Star”. I have run into a problem sourcing a new bottom bracket to suit. There are no threads, which is OK as I can buy a “press in” BB, but the all the press in BB’s are too narrow, about 35.4mm width, compared with my BB shell which has an I.D of 38mm wide and is 70mm long.

One suggestion at the moment is to weld in a new lugged shell if I can find one! Hmmmmm.

Or I keep searching for a 38mm diameter Self tightening BB.

The other method was to re-furb the original BB, which would be easy, except the spindle is too long for a fixie chain line.

Ohhh the fun of restoring an old bike!!! At least I am learning a heap.
